I see in Job’s expression the same comfort and trust I see in David’s throughout the Psalms. Job in the processing of his grief, knew God was big enough to handle it. Job knew God was able to take the rawness of his feelings and thoughts. But what I find interesting in Job’s lament is not once does he blame God.
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Good Friday has come and gone. We celebrate Easter tomorrow. Today, we wait. Out of the three days, I think this one elicits unsettling feelings for me the most. Yesterday was Palm Sunday, a day in the Church when we celebrate the event of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem recorded in the Gospels.
